It's Beginning to Feel A Lot Like Christmas

Yesterday, a dear friend and I woke up early to attend the Nordstrom card member special shopping event. I woke up to my alarm (not Lucia for once!) did my hair and makeup (extra concealer for the early morning dark circles) and got dressed while Alex dressed Lucia in the church clothes I laid out for her the night before. We each left the house way before we usually do! Needless to say, once my friend and I got to Nordstrom, I realized it was all worth it!

The store was still closed to the public (we got there at 9 and it opened at 11) and were greeted by fantastically festive employees who took our invitations. There was a DJ spinning (is that even a thing anymore with the invention of mp3s?) some great Christmas music, and dapper waiters with silver trays of champagne, lemon water, fresh orange juice, and other fun drinks. There were tables set up with coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and apple cider and cute little bottles of Nordstrom water. It is important to stay hydrated while shopping!

Once we had our mimosas in hand, we started at the top of the store and shopped our way down. There were more waiters with tiny bites of appetizers wandering around and of course, I had to try everything! We had chicken and waffles, ham and cheese croissants, Spanish fritata with chorizo, lox and cream cheese with caviar, and my favorite, a breakfast palova with fruit and mint. I got lots of ideas for my next cocktail party. Little bite sized food is so much fun and the perfect way to try lots of dishes without stuffing yourself. And, who wants to stuff themself while wearing a cocktail dress?!

Once we finished at Nordstrom, we wandered around the rest of the mall and did some Christmas shopping and Chirstmas list making. After a stop at Tiffany's, I was reminded that I hadn't yet seen their Holiday ad for this year. These little videos are truly something I look forward to and they really put me in the holiday mood. The ad is always so dreamy and romantic it makes me want to pack up and move back to New York. My favorite year was the 2010 ad (you can look it up). Here is this year's holiday ad:

So, now that I am almost done with my Christmas shopping, here is my list for this year. Each title of is a link so you can check it out further if you are interested. Don't worry, I am going to do a post about giving back to charity tomorrow, let's not forget the true spirit of the season!
