Christmas Fudge | Packaging Gifts for Teachers and Neighbors

Growing up, there were a few treats that I knew I could only get my hands on during Christmastime. My Nonni's biscottini, my Grammy's crown jewel, my Mom's 7-layer bars, and her famous fudge. There is something so special about having certain treats that only appear once a year. Do they taste better because they are occasional? Perhaps, but I am sure this fudge would taste good any time of the year! (Don't worry Mom, I will still only make them for Christmas)
Lucia attends something called "supervised play" once a week at the church where Alex and I were married. It isn't a daycare and it isn't preschool yet it is exactly what I need in the middle of the week. It's just a break where I can blog, bake, paint my nails, or go to the store by myself and I know she is having fun with her friends and is well taken care of. She always says she had a fun day and I feel refreshed and inspired to continue her good day when she comes home. I'm thankful for the wonderful women who take care of our little girl and thought I would send them some Christmas Fudge as a festive gift.
3 cups sugar
3/4 cups butter
2/3 cup (one 5 1/3 ounces can) evaporated milk
12 ounce bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
7 ounce jar marshmallow creme
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Combine sugar, butter, and evaporated milk in a medium saucepan. Bring to a rolling boil, stirring constantly. Continue boiling for 5 minutes over medium hear, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; stir in chocolate until melted. Add marshmallow creme and vanilla. Beat until well blended. Pour into a buttered 9x13" pan. Cool and cut into squares. Makes 3 pounds.

Granted, this fudge is so good you could put it in a ziplock baggie and no one would complain but I thought I would Christmas-ify the packaging to make it extra-special. I had all of the supplies on hand but if you don't, you can find substitutes around your house. Make do with what you have, I'm sure they will look great!
Packaging Christmas Fudge
plain, natural kraft sandwich bags
brown parchment paper
1"-wide natural cotton twill tape
cream colored rectangle printable labels
small sprigs of greenery
Christmas Fudge, cut into squares
First, create the labels. You can handwrite the note or make a template on your computer. I bought these labels from Paper Source and they provide a template that I just typed into. I found a cute clip-art of Santa on his sleigh and then used the following fonts for the lettering:

Print out as many labels as you need. Keep in mind that one recipe for Christmas Fudge yields about 4 packages.
Next, cut the brown parchment paper into strips that will fit into the kraft sandwich bags as an extra lining (you can omit this step if your bags are grease-proof).
Fill the bags about halfway with your Christmas Fudge squares. I was able to fit a dozen in each but this will depend on how large you cut your squares.
Fold the bags over to about the center of the bag. You want enough room for the label to fit.
Cut a length of the twill tape that will wrap around the package with an extra 2 inch overhang.
Stamp the ribbon if you wish. I got this custom stamp through Vistaprint.
Wrap the ribbon horizontally around your package and finish with the overhang pointing down.
Place a sprig of greenery (make sure it isn't poisonous, don't use holly!) across the ribbon.
Secure the package closed with a label. Pass out to teachers, friends, and neighbors and watch their faces light up!
